Ristretto – Handel’s Messiah (St Paul’s Church in Monaco on Saturday 10th December)
One of the great musical masterpieces of all times, George Frideric Handel's Messiah was first performed in 1742. Composed in English, the Baroque-era oratorio still awes listeners 250 years after the composer's death. The work is regularly performed during Advent and with its stunning choruses, dramatic arias, and underlying emotional intensity, has become a tradition for many music lovers firmly associated with the weeks leading up to Christmas.
Continuing the tradition started some years ago, and thanks to a generous anonymous donor, St Paul’s Anglican Church in Monaco will again be hosting this magnificent annual occasion on 10th December at 8pm. Ristretto Chamber Choir and Instrumental Ensemble will be directed by Errol Girdlestone with the participation of international soloists Elenor Bowers-Jolley, Clint van der Linde, Alex Tsilongiannis and Jean-Luc Ballestra.
Tickets are available from the Association Musique de Chambre (Monaco) - 06.43.91.67.43 - or from the FNAC via the following link:
